I work at the Center for Reproductive Rights (union with UAW 2110) but I am not even kind of in charge of anything. Perma pedestrian. I like abortion and unions and flowers and knitting and New York and Kansas. Organizing with Repro Workers

Their answer was very, very clear: "I will never, ever leave my land." www.thenation.com/article/worl...

My takeaway here on what this means for abortion care? Innovative little start ups were never the answer. Our movement is not in a place to innovate with compassion to both workers and patients without being beholden to the absurd whims of random donors. It’s all a savior complex.
Oh cool, an article about my ex-employer who laid me off after stringing me along. Fascinating to see Julie STILL misleading people in her quotes here. I guess once you start, it’s hard to stop?

A quick hit from me after the protests over the last week, despite all the claims that people were too exhausted to protest and were sitting Trump II out. It's true, much of the Trump "resistance" appeared to have gone home when Biden was elected. But plenty of people never left the fight:
The #Resistance Lives. It Just Looks Different This Time.
Defying mainstream media narratives about the exhausted opposition, protests are picking up in D.C. and across the country, led by protesters who never hung up their placards to begin with.

They're just so clearly using this stuff to attempt to purge the federal government's unions and blatantly violate their CBA's, if you're not talking about that because you think certain academics and people who post a lot are annoying to you personally I don't think you're a serious labor advocate
i'll be blunt, if you are someone who is vocal about the ways that diversity efforts "divide the working class" but silent about the ways that *actual racism and discrimination* divide the working class, then i think you're just an opportunist
Trump’s Attacks on DEI Get Approval From Some in the Left Wing
Many Democrats and activists are rallying to defend diversity programs, but others say they distract from deeper efforts to address inequality.

Federal workers got another unsigned email at 1 a.m. from a newly created OPM email, urging them to do the deferred resignation before it supposedly ends today. Feels a bit sweaty and desperate!

This story is, among many many things, about how destructive rich people's obsession with funding "innovation" over everything else is. Mobile clinics along state borders never made any sense! The places along borders that do make sense (KC & St. Louis areas, El Paso area, etc) already have clinics!
NEW: On January 17, Just the Pill laid off nearly all of its staff. Former employees allege union busting, mismanagement, nepotism, and that the organization condoned widespread misrepresentation of its use of mobile clinics.

I actually feel like they are all displaying different strains of a tantrum over the fact that they all were mostly let into polite society in the ways they cared about (fancy law schools, journalists, Scalia on stage at the opera with Ginsburg and such), and they feel like people changed the rules
i find brett kavanaugh weirdly interesting for how much he very obviously has a desperate need for the approval of polite society in a way that just isn’t true of thomas and alito (or before them, scalia and rehnquist) www.cnn.com/2023/09/08/p...

The indictment is egregious, treating mutual aid and solidarity as pre-crime activities. Guilt by association is the point. Egregiously, it casually refers to the 2020 police execution of Rayshard Brooks as “justified” — and the indictment is from the same Fulton County that indicted Brooks’ killers

it's true that Labor Day is in some sense a fake labor day for cops compared to the REAL labor day (May 1), but also we don't have enough holidays and we should just work towards having two labor-based holidays the same way we have two "salute da vets" holidays
