Faculty at Michigan State University have become the latest in the Big Ten to urge conference leaders to create a "mutual defense compact" against the Trump administration amid its aggressive campaign to reshape higher education in its image.

Under the compact, participating institutions would “commit meaningful funding to a shared or distributed defense fund” that would “provide immediate and strategic support to any member institution under direct political or legal infringement," according to the faculty senate's resolution.

On 2/13/23 Michigan State joined a club no one wants to be part of. We were still numb from the shooting at Oxford where my son was a student. There were OHS alums at MSU who survived 2 shootings in just over a year. Please take a moment to remember the 3 beautiful lives that were lost that day.
