I was always against attempting this because I was hoping the plant would bloom when it was ready to. And while some of my critics would ask me how much longer it would take, I would have been happy even if it never fruited because I was happy helping something normally discarded grow huge!

My hypothesis is that the ripening pineapple off gasses some sort of chemical compound that initiates a blooming response in the other plants. I know that it's possible to get them to bloom using etheline gas, which is emitted by rotting fruit. (4/x)

Even though the other 2 successfully bore ripe fruit they were not nearly as large as the first one. Admittedly, the first one was given the most amount of time and attention, as well as the biggest pot to grow in. But it also took 5 years to bloom (a fruit) the other 2 bloomed shortly after (3/x)

What I find interesting is that it took about 5 years for my first one ever to bloom (while growing it in Canada). But this one ended up growing to a moist size worthy of a supermarket. The other 2 which bloomed only ≈ 6 months after this one were only 2 to 4 years old. (2/x)

Any difficult task done once can be done again with the right amount of determination. And I'm back on my buckshit. It looks like this little bro(meliad) is going to take off. The key signs being the healthy roots, the nice bright green on the leaves and the sharp Spiked sides which are new growth.
