Death by Lightning leans much further into historical fiction than I expected (or want). Entertaining though

There's nothing that really makes Trump a small government GOPer. He doesn't have convictions. In another world he could be leading a sycophantic group of mostly white, mostly faux alpha males and 30 year old women, in kind of racist ill-founded half-planned socialist leaning programs.

Crazier still when he later specifies "the garage fridge"
This is worth watching most of all for the Pope getting beer and going “yeah put that in the fridge” which is just a phrase you never anticipate hearing from a Pope
I love my hometown of
CHICAGO 🧵1

I went to Catholic school but I no longer believe in organized religion...
But
I love POPE LEO
Governor JB PRITZKER visit the Vatican and gives him
Chicago Beer brewed for the
Pope
It's named DA POPE BEER

Only in Chicago 🤣

Looking at Blake Butera and all these guys in the Trump admin, maybe it's just that Millennials look old.

Sad reminder of another thing that COVID took from us... the MARchKAKIS to 3000
The 2026 Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot as announced moments ago by @baseballhall.org (baseballhall.org/news/2026-bb...). Results will be announced Jan. 20th. Game on!

Yes yes milk stuff but this is a man who has just spent his first month home with a 1 month old, 1 1/2 year old, 5 year old & 6 year old. There's no division of labor that works here.
2025 has been a tough year on all of us

I've eaten an apple with a pocket knife and it's as exactly as cool as it looks to be.

Wasn't the point of this piece (which is good) but it's funny about how much of the Dodgers success is by creating a solid farm system and then just sending most of them away because prospects aren't nearly as good as real established players you can sign or trade for.

You aren’t thinking 5th dimensionally enough. It’s going to kill the GOP when Johnson keeps the gov’t closed to avoid a vote on the Epstein files

This is some tortured acronym work

Still patiently waiting for DeMarlo Hale to get his shot
Haha, dude with no coaching experience gets three guaranteed years, but Ron Washington had to settle for two with the Angels. It's farcical at this point.

! Mike Bacsik now thinking grooving a pitch to Bonds wasn't the best post-career move he could make

I don't think the GOP has any idea how to handle the fact they have made the party beholden to a 10%+ that simply like Trump. They don't care about the GOP platform (though they may favor it). They don't listen to Trump tell them to vote for others. They just like to go out and vote for that guy.

"Man, that World Series G7 was great. A bunch of people on here sharing some non-political thing together. Maybe Blue SKy does have that future not dominated by people who obsessively need to share political opinions multiple times a day"

<Dick Cheney dies>

"Goddammit"

First salvo is when your first kid starts school and one day you start to work out how long they will be at home before college and it’s the same amount of time that you’ve been out of college.
One of the signs of healthy aging, I think, is when you see a young, attractive person and the thought "what on earth could I possibly talk about with them?" completely dominates the old inner monologue.
Oh, I find people in their 20s (women especially, as I am straight) attractive, and I don't feel bad about that; some people are just pretty! Also I find my brain sorts attractive women in their 20s the same way it sorts attractive men of all ages, i.e, "Okay, they're hot, and also, not for me."

Fun game. How many Nats are in this list? If any what number(s)?

No fair using AI to skim it bc Pouliot wisely added two traps!
November 3, 2025 at 11:04 PM
A lot less “we should just have as much light in the evening as possible all year long” discourse this year. Probably bc you have other stuff to worry about but I like to believe they realize it’s an anti-science do-what-I-want-who-cares-about-you MAHA position

It's been this way for years but managers reluctance to be aggressive on the base paths coupled with old-time thinking about bunt strategy consistently puts their teams in bad positions. Giving up outs to put pressure on themselves instead of sacrificing outs to try to put pressure on other team.
