A couple months back, Santa Monica changed its rules about where tattoo shops can be. Since then three have popped up within a few blocks of each other on Main: The Apollo Tattoo Studio, Black Hand and now Kiss Kiss.

How thoroughly are some US govt. agencies scrubbing things from the web? Our review of 8000+ web pages found wild examples: At the EPA, the “Diversity Commitment and Code of Conduct” was deleted off a page from a 2021 conference. A DHS job listing no longer promises an “inclusive” environment.
How federal agencies have already changed their websites under Trump
“Diversity” has been deleted. “Climate resilience” is now a popular substitute for “climate change.” And “pregnant people” has been replaced by “pregnant women.”

U.S. data journalism leans heavily on datasets from federal and federally funded programs, government is simply better positioned to collect data on a range of national issues. When datasets go offline, we know less about the truth than we did before.

it’s going to be better tomorrow. winds have calmed (relatively) into the night, lafd has a shot at getting ahead of the fires overnight before winds pick up again & won’t be nearly as bad as they were yesterday. more resources will be mobilized, too. tomorrow will be better.

If so, we've got a bunch of Michigan counties to work on. Email (in profile) or DM for details!
