This is Max. He snuck out in the middle of the night and walked 5 miles to get a breakfast burrito from a store that gave him one once. They hadn't opened yet when he got there, but Max was found the next morning thanks to his GPS collar patiently waiting outside for his well-earned snack. 14/10

There are things you just don’t cut.

A hotline for suicidal youth is one of them.

Taking away a basic call for help when someone is at their lowest is not just cold.

It’s evil.

26 years ago today, 13 people were killed and 24 were injured in a mass shooting at Columbine High School.

This year, survivor Anne Marie Hochhalter died due to complications of her gunshot wounds at the age of 43.

Gun violence inflicts damage that lasts a lifetime. End it now.

'Dandelions,' was painted by the Danish artist Bertha Wegmann around 1910. It wasn't an arbitrary choice of a plant to paint: the dandelion was used to promote the women’s liberation movement in Scandinavia because of its capacity for uncontrolled, strong-willed growth.

Measles likely came from cows (via rinderpest) around the 6th century BCE.

For 2,500 years, we didn’t evolve superhuman resistance—children just died. Real protection only came in the 1960s, with vaccines.

Our superpower isn’t evolving into superhumans. It’s outthinking pathogens.

New — I spoke to the school principal of Sackets Harbor, NY, where ICE handcuffed and disappeared a mother and 3 kids (including a 3rd grader). It’s also the town Trump Border Czar Tom Homan calls home.

Cook tells me about how the small town is taking on enormous power to bring the students home:
