Tottenham Hotspur fan. Habe patientiam.

My family have been Spurs since the beginning, when our colours were navy blue, and we played on Tottenham marshes.

Which is fine as a concept, but Frank evidently overestimated his players' capacity to play such a system with, what, a couple of days training.

Wait, how are we worse than Wolves? That is absurdly poor.

Don't forget wishing we could prevent more goals. That's probably the saddest part what with, ya know, our first choice defenders and all that. At least the lack of goals thing is somewhat understandable due to the injuries and disruption. It's like our defenders aren't good at being defensive.

Not sure he's ever done much different. Get the ball up the wings, bang it into the danger area. The issue as I see it is, even if he wants to try something different, where does he get the time to work on that? He risks making us worse. I wonder if only a bold Jan window will help?

Agree with that.

New(ish) regime though. They might see/do things differently. Maybe. We'll soon find out. They're not really new tbh.

I don't think it would be terrible. Dropping to one game a week would be harmful to overall squad development probably. Although the mid week breathing room could give Frank more time to get his ideas across.

Conference?

🤔

Quite possibly, yes, that seems reasonable. According to Solanke his communication is good, but different. More one to one. But, sure, regarding content, players always seemed openly enthusiastic about Ange's ideas.

That was actually quite funny now there's a bit of distance. Haha, felt for the guy.

Hello darkness...

As Jack said on VFTL, something is not working and Frank must know it. He's strong on the analytics. Question is, what will he do about it, if anything?
November 24, 2025 at 10:19 PM
Psychological safety too. I'm starting to suspect a malaise of risk aversion or outright fear has overcome the club. That's what it looks like.
November 24, 2025 at 10:16 PM
Dan been very calm and consistent in his critique. Agreed, he's a great listen.
November 24, 2025 at 10:02 PM
I've listened to a few today. A common theme is bafflement at Frank's post-match claim they tried to press high. Nobody saw any evidence of it, so it seems strange he'd say it, because it means either he's making it up, or the players ignored him, or they didn't know what to do.
November 24, 2025 at 9:59 PM
Have you listened to VFTL yet? Jack's comments around this idea of Frank needing to adapt are good. Good episode overall actually. Dan KP, Jack, Jay.

Crucially, I think a different coach/DoF would not have brought in Palhinha and gone for a better passer. As our friendly Fulham fan said, he's useful in a relegation scrap, but little else.
November 24, 2025 at 9:50 PM
I'm not sure previous coaches (more attacking ones) would set up particularly differently (probably less Benthinha), but I think the intent would be different. I think Odobert and Kudus would have suited previous manager better. Son probably suited Frank better. All a bit of a mess isn't it.
November 24, 2025 at 9:50 PM
Ah yes, probably. I wasn't really drawing a distinction between delivery and content. It sounds like overall environment was good too (according to Ben Haines’ interview on The Lab podcast).
