This is an interesting take, it's important to incorporate social statuses when making choices about nutrition because there could always be an effect from that. @beh353.bsky.social #BEH353
Hunger isn’t only about food. It’s tied to income, housing, education, and access to grocery stores. Real nutrition solutions start by understanding those bigger systems. #RealWorldNutrition

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 As a future healthcare professional I plan to give nutrition education during daily visits and focus on realistic tips that will truly make a difference in individuals lives.

This is interesting, I didn't know that cooking a certain way can also preserve nutrients in some foods. This could be a good way to get some more nutrients in with thanksgiving sides such as potatoes! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Roasting is an easy way to make vegetables taste richer and sweeter while preserving their nutritional value. Toss diced veggies in olive oil and season; spread on a baking sheet and place in a hot oven to turn simple produce into something you actually want to eat. #RealWorldNutrition

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 I am most excited for stuffing especially with cranberry sauce!! I also like turkey in order to get my protein.

I love this! Especially with the holidays coming up, this can make healthy eating more fun for kids while still including nutrients they need, and give them something to look forward to! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

#BEH353 @beh353.bsky.social www.cdc.gov/nutrition/fe... I chose this article from the C.D.C. because it is from a reliable source and easy to read! It gives examples of what are good for children to eat as well and the reasonings behind it.

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 This does a good job showcasing the difference, and how people would lean towards a specific choice when grocery shopping because of the labelling. It's important to understand where the labels are coming from because it can be misleading.

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 I noticed how his environment is what helped him shift his meal choices the most. As a future health provider, I would encourage patients who have difficulty with commitment, to first start with something they are comfortable with the most in order to keep them going.

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 I agree, I feel like there is a lot of stigma around this term and there should be more appropriate education for all individuals so we can all move in the right direction.

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 A fact that stuck with me from this week is that obesity can cause a decrease in life expectancy from between 6 to 20 years depending on race or age. I found this unique because I wonder how certain races can influence obesity lifestyles or decrease life expectancy more.

@beh353.bsky.social #beh353 These are good habits to build against unhealthy eating! They focus on prioritizing wellness from other aspects too like your phone and quality of sleep.

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 I chose the barrier: Expected consumption of unhealthy foods in certain situations. Recently, I had my cousins visit, and I found that I was eating a lot more fast food and desserts because it was more convenient. We would fall into the "nightly sweet treat" trap easily.

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 This is a great article because it really gets straight to the point on whether vitamin B is a supplement that should be taken or not. Luckily for most vitamins, we can just get them through what we incorporate in our diets!

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 I've recently seen a rise in popularity for Ashwagandha supplements around social media. This article I found gives good background information, explanations of what it is, and suggests who is best to take it! ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/A...

I found this to be relevant giving that major holidays are right around the corner! It's important to monitor portions just as it is to eat healthy too.

I chose to share this article because I think it does a good job highlighting pros and cons for a paleo diet for any patient that would be interested. Mayo Clinic is known as a credible source, so that's why I chose one from here.

That's true, I feel like it's important to look at what you're including in your diet, even if it fits the category of the diet, cause sometimes there could be more beneficial foods to what you're choosing! @beh353.bsky.social #BEH353
A vegetarian diet can be healthy—but not automatically. It still depends on what’s on your plate. Chips and soda are technically vegetarian too. I break down the biggest myths about vegetarian eating in my latest post: www.shelleyrael.com/blog/vegetar... #RealWorldNutrition

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 I've noticed the last few years that keto diets are becoming more and more popular. I feel like especially with social media, keto diets gets influenced more and can get tailored the wrong way or to the wrong audience and continue to spread like that.

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 This is pretty interesting! Incorporating lentils or chickpeas into a meal such as a rice bowl could increase nutrient/protein intake pretty easily.

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 On a regular basis, I usually eat a wrap with chicken. To make it more nutrient dense, I can definitely add more veggies to it for more folate and other vitamins, or even hummus to bring in more fiber and flavor. I could also switch out the wrap for a whole grain one.

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 In the last 24 hours I would say I had ok meals. I usually skip breakfast, so for lunch I had a chicken wrap and for dinner I had fish with rice, and the last thing I remember eating was a cookie. Kind of hard to recall cause usually I eat random stuff throughout the day.

This is great! A lot of people try to cut out carbs completely because it can be bad for you, but it is still important to have them in our diet at a safe lower amount!
Too much of anything can be bad for you—that’s exactly what too much means...yet we constantly slide from "too much of something is a problem" right into "any of that is toxic!"
Many things that are risky in excess are essential or safe in moderation.
Nutrition isn’t black+white - neither is eating.

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 This week I learned the importance of fiber as it has different factors. It can help lower cholesterol and prevent blood clots. Fiber is an important macronutrient and keeps our body healthy as a whole.

This is true because there's so many different articles out and new diets that promote healthy eating but the effects they have mentally can be hurtful. So it's definitely important to just do well research before deciding to follow a "rule".
There’s a difference in choosing foods that make you feel physically better versus following rules because you “should”.

@beh353.bsky.social #BEH353 Reading the article about the headlines informed me that it's still important to thoroughly read through the information you are accessing before making any conclusions. Especially when it comes to nutrition because the field is much more vast than we think.
