Even fungi are smarter than half of America me thinks. They are small but they are mighty. They consume dead matter and bloom into the most stunning plant structures 🍄‍🟫🍄🥰

I’m in shock. Surely this can’t be happening. I honestly believed Trump would not win. Does he truly reflect America? I feel extremely worried for our world

The developed world has not been doing anywhere near enough to support developing nations reduce their emissions. In some countries good quality investment could easily help them to reduce their emissions #climate #eco
The UNEP Emissions Gap Report 2024 highlights a critical funding gap for decarbonization, especially in developing regions.
An annual investment of $9,105 billion is needed to reach a 1.5 trajectory, but in 2021-2022, only $1,150 billion was invested.

This is very cool. Using a range of means to gather #eco data is smart
AI can help transform tourist photos of penguins into digital maps of Antarctica's penguin colonies.

This offers a way to glean scientific benefits from Antarctic tourism at a time when researchers still debate the potential ecological impacts. 🧪

This man destroyed our chances to be leaders on #climate policy and #solar tech
I cried for hours when he was elected in 1996 as we knew what was install for us with him coming to power. Then we endured 11 years of #eco hell. We are still living with his horrific legacy in many areas of policy
18 years ago today (Oct 31, 2006) Australian Prime Minister John Howard said that the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change was "pure speculation."

He's a criminal. He belongs at the Hague.

Another take reporting on the bi-annual #climate report 2024 for #australia #bom #csiro
It really is as bad (& in aspects worse) than has been predicted

"Readings from the bureau’s network of weather stations shows the continent has now warmed by 1.51C since high-quality records started in 1910."

‘Wicked problem’: five charts that show how the climate crisis is making Australia more dangerous
A report by BoM and CSIRO checks ‘vital signs of Australia’s climate’ – and shows temperature trends will only worsen

Scary and shocking. Australia’s bi-annual #climate report 2024. We have 7 years left to reduce our emissions. We have the tech and know what needs to be done. Now we just need serious will to act NOW #australia

A BOM scientist used an off-beat metaphor as he unveiled a 'sobering' report looking at our future weather
Australia has warmed by 1.51 degrees as greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise. The BOM and CSIRO State of the Climate report shows it has fuelled extreme heat events over land and oceans, longer f...
