This is a particularly insightful piece that discusses, for instance, why solar and wind energy have expanded at a rate faster than even the most optimistic projections.

p.s. Frogs do hop out of the water when it gets uncomfortable. We need a better metaphor for the lack of updated assessments of changing situations.

The truth about the story of 'boiled frog'
According to scientific experiments, the story that frogs do not recognize danger and do not run away when slowly heated is incorrect.

Our prehistoric hunter gatherer ancestors were considerably less violent than the orthodoxy previously held. But they were vulnerable to sociopaths—how did they handle these?

When horses were replaced by cars there was a lot of resistance & scaremongering by the incumbent horse industry. Here's an old anti car advert by a horse carriage company.

History now repeats itself with countless scare stories about renewables, heat pumps & electric vehicles.

Mijn column in DS vandaag www.standaard.be/cnt/dmf20241... /

It's much harder to 'electrify everything' when you put most energy taxes on electricity...
Cost of electricity relative to fossil fuels is key factor when it comes to industrial electrification.

In most EU countries electricity is taxed more & renewable energy support levies are often put on electricity & not on fossil fuels.
