Y’all, things are dire since my car has been stolen a week before our move. We were counting on having it. Things have been really rough & being on disability, which I’ve been on since my lymphoma diagnosis, limits my budget drastically. If you can help or share I’d be grateful.

It is time to vibe critically.
Critical theory is no longer enough. It is time for critical practice.

In other words: no one is going to let you sit at the adults table and "do strategy" just because you finished your dinosaur nuggets twice as quickly.

Best case scenario, you get another helping of dinosaur nuggets. More realistically, half of you get laid off, and the other half get 2x the work.

When tech oligarchs say nonsense like this they’re positioning themselves as an alternative to scientific research, which is a position fascists are happy to support. Deregulation is a main goal of both groups. What’s a little fascism if it helps you get there?

A pertinent question to ask ourselves: When did we decide that going faster is more important than everything else?
Above all else, AI is an accelerant.

That makes it really important for us to look at the world around us right now and ask: do we want to keep doing this, but faster? If not, what are the necessary interruptions?

AI itself isn’t the problem.

The problem is the stuffing of AI into every facet of our lives, the indiscriminate wielding of it against messy human problems, the band-aiding over inherent and sometimes unsolvable complexity - and all of this with a distinct lack of interrogation into consequences.
