I'm not even a Pokemon TCG person, but every once in a while Beard Dad Cardz pops up on my feed and almost every time makes me tear up how awesome he is to the people who follow him.

Especially in this shitty world, I feel like those little pops of loveliness are what everyone needs

Can anybody remember the game The Neverhood? It was an entirely claymation game from the late 90s that was absolutely ridiculous in it's scope and execution. Utter piece of art.

Sunday night posting is the best time to get engagement, right!? Here's another weeknote, this time on being bored - lurkmoophy.com/blog/weeknot...

For those who don't like guessing games...

Here are the designer to developer ratios for different size org brackets:

1-100 employees — 1:3
100-500 — 1:11
1k-5k — 1:21
5k+ — 1:53

It's not the biggest sample size, but it kind of blows my mind that the ratio climbs so fast.

Take a guess at ratio of designers to developers in orgs with more than 5k people...

(this is obvs based on a data sample, but still)

Fixed the illustration grid and ordering on my illustration page last night. That was an absolute ballache. But then spent a good fifteen minutes just pulling down the letters and making them spin.

Finally got the last main page of my site live to show off the side projects I do - lurkmoophy.com/side-projects/

Used it to play with CSS grid a bit more and understand it better.

Not only is this potentially going to put load sof people in the wrong with trade secret misappropriation and breach of NDAs, but surely the people sharing this information realise they're training openAI to take their jobs, right?

OpenAI Is Asking Contractors to Upload Work From Past Jobs to Evaluate the Performance of AI Agents
To prepare AI agents for office work, the company is asking contractors to upload projects from past jobs, leaving it to them to strip out confidential and personally identifiable information.

My final list of ins and outs for 2026
January 2, 2026 at 3:42 PM
I spent way too much time pulling together a stupid 'Year in Review' post and styling it. So, you know, if you're into that kind of thing you could have a read: lurkmoophy.com/blog/year-in...
Year in Review 2025
A look back at the year that was

And my current outs for 2026:

AI slop
Stepping on other people’s joy
Being a fascist
Beige
Nicki Minaj (fuck her)
Hangovers
Post-punk
Straight white guys with podcasts
December 31, 2025 at 2:34 PM
Working on my ins and outs for 2026. Here's my current ins:

Giving a shit
Physical shit (bring back magazines)
Shandying ridiculous beers
Nu-metal (and then emo)
Substack (ew)
Reading long-form content
People actually going to small gigs
Being weird on the internet (in a good way)
December 31, 2025 at 2:34 PM
I was hoping that 2026 was the year that emo unashamedly comes back to the mainstream. However, I'm seeing more and more nu-metal/hip-hop crossovers happening in the last 6 months. I think it's a nu-metal 2026.

Downloaded and started playing Split Fiction yesterday and omfg what a game. We were planning on playing it for half hour and ended up doing a five hour stint.

Beautiful mix of stunning visuals, awesome story (stories), and fun, not-too-hard gameplay. It’s so perfect.
