NEW: Buried inside the One Big Beautiful Bill Act is $6 billion for border security tech, including surveillance towers. CBP just confirmed to me that this surveillance tower money can *only* go to Anduril, the Trump-friendly military contractor. theintercept.com/2025/07/09/t...
Trump’s Big Beautiful Gift to Anduril
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act requires all new border surveillance towers to be certified "autonomous." Only Anduril's fit the bill.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

New, from me: A Brown student built an AI-powered harassment machine of university staff. When the university investigated (and cleared) him, he was presented as a free speech victim. He became a right-wing celebrity, which was his goal all along. 🧵

The Trump administration is arresting immigrants who follow the rules and show up at court in good faith. Weaponizing compliance like this could cause (might be intended to cause) a collapse of faith in the immigration courts.

I have spent a lot of my career talking to service providers about data security and am personally devastated by the lack of infrastructure and training for data management in social services. It’s something that really needs investment immediately.
Yes. I spent some time with Black mothers in Mississippi who use state befits like TANF etc. One thing that came up in their stories is how often their kids’ data/identities have been stolen — they believe from the casual mistreatment of data in those offices.
I also have a piece I need to resubmit to a journal about this re: reproductive data, but yes- all this AND we have framed folks who don’t want to engage in datafication of themselves through tracking apps, watches, aura rings, or whatever as “irresponsible” or uninterested in their well-being.

Also FEMA: Actually, we're taking those away because you fed migrants and they could be "illegal" so maybe you're breaking the law.

I am proud of my former Dean (at both Fordham and Georgetown Law), who is standing up for the values of those Jesuit institutions. The anti-DEI dictates are unconstitutional and just plain ridiculous in their sweep. I hope every university leader has the guts to stand up to this bullying.
This week, Edward Martin, the interim US attorney for Washington, DC, sent a letter to the dean of Georgetown Law School threatening to investigate the school if it did not scrub its policies and curriculum of diversity and inclusion initiatives. Here is the Dean's response....
