Respect the land and its inhabitants. Watershed restoration ecologist/hydrologist, California environmental historian/librarian, mountaineer, former firefighter/EMT. Western Marin County. Opinions are my own.
Thanks for the heads up! Looks good in camera shots from San Geronimo. Hard to see with naked eye.

There are no flowers, the herbage is brittle.
All night along the coast & the mountain crest
Birds go by, murmurous, high in the warm air.
Only in the mtn meadows the aspens
Glitter like goldfish moving up swift water;
Only in the desert villages the leaves
Of the cottonwoods descend in smoky air.

2025 was a remarkable summer--it never got hot for very long. It was our third coolest summer for max and average temps, third warmest for min temps. If you look at only early summer before mid-August, it was the coolest summer for max and average temps.

This has been a long-term problem for the Forest Service. In forestry classes 30 years ago I remember learning the term "analysis paralysis."

My daughter is obsessed. Her best friend has watched it like 40 times. Everybody is going as those characters on Halloween.
