Thanks for the heads up! Looks good in camera shots from San Geronimo. Hard to see with naked eye.

Autumn In California by Kenneth Rexroth, 1940

Autumn in CA is a mild
And anonymous season, hills & valleys
Are colorless then, only the sooty green
Eucalyptus, the conifers and oaks sink deep
Into the haze; the fields are plowed, bare, waiting;
The steep pastures are tracked deep by the cattle;

2025 was a remarkable summer--it never got hot for very long. It was our third coolest summer for max and average temps, third warmest for min temps. If you look at only early summer before mid-August, it was the coolest summer for max and average temps.

You'll find nothing scarier this Halloween than the walking dead water projects shown in this special holiday fact sheet. www.friendsoftheriver.org/wp-content/u...

So many people at Ocean Beach No Kings protest. So many good signs. 6 drones, 3 airplanes, 1 helicopter, two medical 911 calls. Amazing waves and incredible surfing.

Sooooo many people protesting at Ocean Beach today it was astounding.

This actually turned out pretty good. More accessible for those who had trouble with the steep narrow section of trail.

Roy's Redwoods Rock:
The rockwork is expanding
Muir Woods is where the Valley's landing
We'll look like a Sierra National Park
If only my son's change project can keep it dark

Okaaaay, I'm not seeing that in my search results today--today it is telling me it doesn't exist. This implementation of AI is worse than worthless and keeps getting worse. The Silicon Valley tradition of releasing flawed beta projects has reached a new low.

When Google's AI search tells you that Excelsior Mountain is the second-highest peak in the Sierra Nevada (it is really 8th highest just in Yosemite, which doesn't even have any of the 14 or so peaks over 14,000 feet), you know AI technology is fundamentally flawed and needs bigger-print disclaimers

The "Don't flood Nicasio" signs against the proposed expansion of Nicasio Reservoir have popped up all over Nicasio this summer. The scoping comment period was extended and Martha Davis has an excellent letter to the editor in today's Point Reyes Light. www.nicasio.net/flood

San Geronimo Valley had one of its coolest Julys. A little cooler than 2022. A pleasant relief from recent years.

When hydrological connectivity is disrupted, it directly impacts the ecosystem for... all aquatic organisms... there is damage to the public trust when the State allows a perennial stream to go dry. Recreation, including fishing, canoeing, and rafting is lost... wildlife.ca.gov/Drought/Proj...

This was just repainted by the new owners after about 18 years. Surprised they left it as long as they did.

So proud of Angelenos for using nonviolence to stand up for civil rights. A little over a month ago I was at the King Center, where the six principles of nonviolence are printed on stone. thekingcenter.org/about-tkc/th...

Two of my three main star thistle pulling sites appear to be star thistle-free this year! Plenty of other spots need attention. Branching out to new spots...

DOGE may have closed the Freedom Riders Museum, but it won't succeed in hiding the important history of America's civil rights movement.

So springlicious going from the Eureka Dunes horned lizards to the coastal banana slugs, and from from desert vetch and primrose to the blooming Bay area endemics.
