New in PN: The Trump Murder Policy

"Trump has claimed Venezuelan boats are being attacked because they’re smuggling drugs, but his evidence doesn’t amount to much more than 'trust me, bro.'"

Whatever else you think of him, I don't think he is insincere about this stuff, and it should be recognized as extraordinary that he, Pritzker, and other governors are talking about the federal government in these terms. It's not normal political rhetoric, it's the language of existential emergency.
Newsom: "I fear that we will not have an election in 2028 -- I really mean that in the core of my soul -- unless we wake up to the code red, what's happening in this country, and we wake up soberly to how serious this moment is."

Hillary Clinton: "In dealing with Trump, there is no larger strategy. There is no overarching goal. It's also personal with President Trump. It's all about how he feels about someone, what he wakes up in the morning thinking, who's the last person who talked to him. Everybody has figured that out."

I’m less worried about not having an election at all (even autocratic states have bogus show elections) than about having one so compromised the results are meaningless. Either way, I don’t know anyone could be paying attention and NOT harbor that fear.

The SAFE Act is clearly just an attempt at voter suppression mostly aimed at minority voters but the fact that it could deny married women who changed their last name to their husbands* the right to vote is extra fucked up!
