I empathize, tactically. He's gonna be under attack from a lot of angles and doesn't need Jeffries on his ass as well.

Instead of a strong mayor, why not hand all these decisions about SF to the President of the United States? After all, that’s the only race most voters pay attention to. They blame the president if stuff is bad. So that maximizes accountability. This is the actual logic of the strong mayorites

Reasons I like DSA despite my misgivings & annoyances over the years: genuinely multi tendency, a genuine democratic membership structure, people dedicated seriously to electoral work even with all the discontents, people seriously dedicated to labor union reform, pro Palestine, extremely pro trans.

The right cannot be "fixed." It must be defeated. The same is true of Dems like Schumer. They cannot be cajoled into serving a better set of interests. They are constitutionally incapable, and what's more, they don't want to. We aren't part of their priority set.

To say this was Dems voting, e.g., to fund ICE paychecks isn't unfair or an exaggeration. It's literally true. That they'd already given up on even trying to do anything about that doesn't change it, it's still in there. This is what constitutional accountability for the power of the purse is for.
