Bigots don't make things worse to cultivate bigotry.

Bigots make things worse because they are dumb and their beliefs are at odds with the laws of creation.

Trump isn't damaging the economy with tariffs to make people bigoted, he's doing them because he's literally tariff otaku.

I've been looking for an excuse to make myself a redaction detection tool based on the open source FreeLaw project. This give me the perfect document to test.

Everyone out on the streets tomorrow if they’re able-bodied.

I do think given the GOP’s strategy right now is to make the midterms all about Trump, whatever his net disapproval is on fiftyplusone is on November 1, 2026 is roughly where the popular vote will be.

The sad part is her post history absolutely reads “generic center-left mom” and then for whatever reason she spouts this nonsense.

Really makes one think, doesn’t it?

I’m sorry, I meant the generic ballot and candidate versus candidate polling being less reliable than presidential disapproval in nationalized, high/turnout elections. The dramatic over-performance of Miki Sherill in New Jersey comes to mind.

It’s something I’ve noticed.

In some November and December elections, I’ve noticed a strong correlation between your presidential approval rating tracker and higher-turnout “nationalized” elections. I strongly believe presidential approval is now a stronger predictor of the midterms than polling. I’d like to hear your thoughts.

And yeah, for whatever reason I was having trouble creating a short thread lol.

Perhaps if the GOP has an 1894-level disaster in 2026 and a 1932 level disaster in 2028 and is repeatedly defeated throughout the entire 2030s, they might realize they have to become normal to win elections, but probably not.

Which also means there’s nothing stopping the inevitable next Republican trifecta from “fixing” the judicial system because the GOP will never be anything except more insane and unhinged from here on out.
December 9, 2025 at 8:56 PM
Normally I wouldn’t be this cynical, but the Trump administration is absolutely going to do a “any person or business involved with us gets an unconditional blanket pardon.” which means no criminal prosecutions unless we fix the judicial system.

I’d probably reduce the coefficient to .8 given the midterms-level turnout in TN-07 and argue that right now is a D+10 midterm environment.

Then again, I tend to be more bullish on the democrats than most people on here.

I got pinged by a random account asking for money to help a girl in Gaza, except reverse image search gave no results and the account had a very suspicious ratio of posts to followers. Despite that, the account has still gotten over a thousand pounds through its gofundme.

We’re so cooked.

I would be interested.

I’ve been wanting a break from current politics for some time, but the shutdown/elections has forced me to keep my eyes on my (heavily curated) feed.

I’m grateful that the shutdown seems like it’s going to end soon, and on terms that can’t be framed as a blanket capitulation.

Frankly, they might just torpedo it anyway. But it’s another case of who fucking knows what will happen.
