Per this article a crew hired by landlord went in & cleaned out units/hallways shortly after raid. ICE didn't raid the leased units. I wonder how they knew which was which?

Per this article a crew hired by landlord went in & cleaned out units/hallways shortly after raid. ICE didn't raid the leased units. I wonder how they knew which was which?

One aspect of this that's (probably rightly) getting less attention than the other outrages is all the indications the abusive landlords were probably cooperating with ICE and wanted to clear out or even rob their tenants.

So it’s not clear if his and others items were scattered/distorted by the operation, water damaged (burst pipes & flooding reported), looted after the fact out of the landlord cleared things out.

ICE has been caught looting and destroying property at Pittsburgh restaurants. They even tried to break into the safes. They loaded food, supplies and equipment into vehicles

This seems highly likely. Slumlords tend to be politically connected and are absolutely not above making political donations to anyone who will enable their slumlording. Follow the money.

There's a larger play going on. ICE/slumlord coordinated rousting of tenants, damaging/stealing their stuff, destroying the bldg. so it's uninhabitable--triggering legal emergency evictions, jacked-up insurance claims & sale to developers.

It's not like this is a new problem; Breonna Taylor, in Louisville, was killed by police in a raid that was entirely because a developer wanted to redevelop the building and her (and other tenants) who refused to leave were an impediment. This sort of thing happens all the time

I spoke to a Venezuelan woman who was arrested in this raid and later released with her 4yo son. She said agents broke down their door, pointed guns at them and made sexualized remarks about Venezuelan women. When she returned to her apartment it was boarded up and all her possessions were gone.
