If you ever need a reminder of the power of optimism, just remember that one dude managed to trade a red paperclip for a house and got to hang out with Corbin Bernsen in the process

I was wondering why I felt like I had no free time these days and then I realized it's because I had started a food blog and didn't tell anyone...

Or how I stopped worrying and became a food writer

@bsky.app @support.bsky.team This seems like a bug--don't know why the second post has the link embed even though there's no link in there!

How does this not have a map somewhere? Not limited to Chicago btw, every city I've lived in has the literal WORST maps of permit parking. At least the Chicago database is easy to read: data.cityofchicago.org/Transportati... #gis #maps #parking

One thing I really like about being part of early days on #leaflet is that I am atop the "Recently Published" section of the Reader for a non-trivial amount of time after posting. Does a lot to help you feel like you're not shouting into the void.

Illinois will effectively eliminate parking minimum requirements in ~all of Chicago and much of its suburbs thanks to the transit funding bill that passed last night.
Also contains parking reform! This is a preliminary map of Chicagoland based on the People Over Parking Act provision.

It would also apply downstate though!

OH! I forgot to mention--I am once again a resident of the Midwest. Happy to be back in Chicago, in a great Wicker Park spot. I did not consider public transit when moving back but HOLY CRAP is having the train right there suuper nice

Does someone have a cache of the old NaNoWriMo pep talks somewhere? I knew the org had basically died but I didn't realize they'd brought the whole site down with them. There was a lot of good stuff in there too: www.wikiwrimo.org/wiki/Pep_Talk

Making a @leaflet.pub! Getting back in the writing habit (at least for a brief moment). Hoping I can make it stick. For now it's grahame.leaflet.pub but I'll probably soon be porting it to my own domain.

Despite what Substack would have you believe, blogs are still very much alive and kicking. But with the demise of Bloglovin and Google Reader I'm looking for a good tool to get all my blogs in one place. Any suggestions?
