It appears that the US has abandoned its allies and switched sides. It is hardly new but often (but not always) ends badly from Hitler breaking the Ribbentrop Molotov pact, Italy switching sides in both WWI & WWII, Russia after the Treaty of Tilsit, Thebes' endless changes.

When I visited Monreale a few years ago I thought it was the most beautiful church interior I had ever seen. The mosaics are a testament to the incredible art during the Norman rule of Sicily. Now they have been restored to ‘pure beauty’. www.bbc.com/news/article...
'It's pure beauty' - Italy's largest medieval mosaics restored
The mosaics in Monreale cathedral, in Sicily, span over 6,400 square meters and contain 2.2 kilos of solid gold.

I went to see the Napoleon movie yesterday & wanted to like it & was OK to forgive some historical errors but it just wasn't a good film. It failed to explain in any way his brilliance & faults or even his relationship with Josephine which was Scott's explanation of Napoleon. Let's take Egypt 1/

There are quite a few around. We look after a couple ourselves.

But here's something unique.

We hold the only known surviving copy of the first of his works to be published in 1593: the poem Venus and Adonis!
