Perfect timing for this story to drop on the same day Amazon lays off 30,000 workers due to claims of AI efficiencies.

If companies have less work for people to do, they don’t give you Fridays off, they lay off people until everyone has a full workweek.
Zoom CEO Eric Yuan says AI will shorten our workweek | TechCrunch
Zoom CEO Eric Yuan says that, in a few years, we should be working a 3-4 day workweek because of AI.

Greg Olsen is really good at his job
Greg Olsen and Joe Davis couldn't believe the decision by Steelers HC Mike Tomlin to take a delay-of-game and punt instead of just going for it on 4th-and-1.

Olsen: "It's a no-brainer! You get a half a yard and the Minnesota Vikings never possess the ball ever again!"🏈🎙️ #NFL

This interview with Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark is interesting as he considers himself an AI pessimist and believes it’ll contribute 3-5% GDP growth versus 20-30% touted by AI optimists.

He also expects healthcare will be the hardest industry for AI to crack given privacy and regulations.

The Luka trade was never about this year. Lakers are an incomplete and unbalanced roster, but if that’s the cost for getting a perennial MVP candidate in his prime, you take that hit. Their play after the trade probably got hopes too high because they were always going to have playoff weak spots.

I hope more people can appreciate how good AD is now that he isn't a Laker anymore.

He's one of the most complete players I've ever seen. Miss him already and can't wait for his number to go up in the rafters when the time comes

Annoying to be a student of history right now.

A populist leader coming to power on the heels of crushing inflation. One who blames the country’s problems on a minority ethnic group he rounds up in detention centers while promising to invade neighboring countries

There's the term "Enshittification:" products decay over time. Almost always to allow companies to make more money (e.g. via ads etc.)

We need a term for "AI enshittification." Where AI functionality is added: that degrades the product experience.

Except the company now makes LESS money on it!!

That a dude with a couple cameras and a plate of appetizers can make something worth $82.5 million and a media company looks at that and goes "couldn't we make even more money if we had AI do it?" tells you exactly how stupid these people are
The $82.5 million sale of "Hot Ones" studio First We Feast is part of a broader strategy at BuzzFeed to shift away from human editors, writers and content producers in favor of artificial intelligence, which result in "high-margin, tech-enabled revenue lines."
BuzzFeed sells "Hot Ones" studio for $82.5 million as it pursues more AI-driven content
The company said the sale will allow it to depend less on human-created content in favor of "high-margin, tech-enabled revenue lines."

Rather than restricting data to only the richest and most powerful (as reddit, facebook, and twitter do), bsky makes it available to everyone.
