As someone else said, one distro of Linux won't affect your experience elsewhere. The most Windows familiar distro is Mint and they aren't doin' any of that.
I'm sorry that all the art folks gotta learn about Linux this way, ontop of creating new art workflows. Be not afraid.

before this is all over there is a good chance your favorite project will have utilized AI in some way. how they use it will make all the difference. Windows will become AI while Linux will have AI. a subtle distinction. something to consider.

I keep seeing friends who aren't thrilled that Word is newly enshittified. At the risk of sounding like one of Those Guys, there is a magnificent, full featured, entirely free alternative called Libre Office that works on all platforms. I've used it exclusively for over a decade.

O woah, I didn't know KDE is working on their own OS! I'll keep my eye out for it. Maybe they'll be going silver when I get more adventurous with linux than just Ubuntu. Both will take a while.

Of the 12 games I loaded up in Ubuntu Linux Steam they all ran.
I've not gotten far enough into them to see how performance is, but nothing at the intro screens indicated any particular issues.
I've tried Stellaris, Total War 3, Metro Redux, Starfield, Rimworld, Silent Hill F, Godot, etc.

I sold a laptop some months ago and installed windows on it and, come to find out, w11 does not have WiFi drivers for it and the keyboard touchpad didn’t work. I had to do more work getting that machine connected to the internet than I’ve had to do with a Linux laptop in…basically ever?

i find it interesting that all the main linux distributions wine has a binfmt package available but most don’t install it by default. this one integration literally gives you PE executable support by launching the exe via wine. click exe and it runs is wha im saying.

this is such a great idea if you have a local repair shop i bet they would love your business and installing linux for you.
It's fairly easy for me, in my experience as someone who's not a techie and can't handle command-line stuff. I just took my used Windows machine to a repair shop and let them wipe Windows and install Ubuntu for me. UI's as easy as Windows or Chrome for me.
Seriously, I think it could be the year of Linux on desktop IF we actually made things easy.

not only that but between the aws incident, windows 10's EOL and the visa/mastercard shitfest i really think we as a society need to wake up to the fact that maaaybe letting one or two companies be the only ones handling critical services that everyone all around the one relies on isnt a good idea

KDE Linux is a fun ride if you like arch and KDE. i wouldn’t say it’s arch though. the images are built using arch which does make it compatible. but you won’t find any pacman here. unless you count pacman-static which is here for unknown reasons.

no offense to ubuntu users but you might want to look closer at the relationship between canonical and microsoft before using it as a windows replacement.
