I think there's still a place for "legacy news" but it's pigeon holed to FACTS ONLY. What used to be news was heavily subsidized by the guv, and it did develop into the unbiased narrative journos like to think they fit. But they don't now, because of profit motives and pundits, swaying opinion.

Calling myself a 'progressive' does nothing to forward my values, while at the same time providing ammunition to those that hate my values. Therefore, keep the values, dump the labels. It's both more direct and accurate. I am not my values, I hold my values.
