Absolutely. I will have to pay way more to extend the lease on my flat than I paid to buy it originally. Unfortunately Labour, like the Conservatives, are all about protecting freeholders’ ability to fleece their less well-off victims. I bought my flat once, I shouldn’t have to buy it again.

Leasehold is an abomination that should be abolished, regardless of the impact on the Grosvenors, Cadogans, Calthorpes and their ilk. They’ve had a good run for a few centuries but it’s time for change.
