A brilliant, astute and culturally focused critique of popular culture is offered by Pontifex maximus in an address yesterday in Rome which was essentially completely ignored by major media. And his remarks are informed heavily by a life lived as a youth in Chicago. www.vatican.va/content/leo-...

Please continue making calls to Visa and Mastercard, because they are working alongside conservative legislators to crack down on free speech and expression!

A dual pronged offense requires a dual pronged defense!
#SaveSpeech

starting Nov 1st we're entering the holiday season, which is a big stress point for big businesses like Mastercard and Visa. These Paypros havent stopped cracking down on Adult Content, so we need to jump back into calling them in full force again!

When the Rock and Roll Trio was playing with the Doc MacQueen Swing Band at the Hideaway in Memphis, Johnny Burnette's day job was working as a repo man, and also as a deck hand on barges crossing the Mississippi.

He was also an amateur boxer, as were the rest of the group.

Apropos great queer art on my timeline...
Jack Smith is my hero and my dream. Listen to this brilliant radio drama he orchestrated in his honor.
If I could create something half as beautiful and captivating as his work, I think I'd consider my life to have been worth living.

I was able to rewatch Superstar: the Karen Carpenter Story last night and while it remains a top 10 film of all time, the most specifically modern insight I took away this watch was that, especially given the historical accident of its available medium, it truly is Analog Horror avant la lettre.

A lovely number I first heard played by the Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band, then in an early recording by ukulele specialist Johnny Marvin, but so far I've not found a commercial recording that doesn't simply jump straight in at the chorus.

Thanks then to […]
