This is the scandal. Trump isn’t targeting dangerous people. He’s targeting peaceful immigrants. Almost exclusively.

Seattle’s mayor and city attorney were both elected in 2021 on promises to crack down on crime and homelessness. They lost their reelection bids this month to candidates promising to undo the incumbents’ punitive practices.
Progressives Win in Seattle, Changing Directions on Public Safety
Voters ousted a mayor who oversaw a surge in encampment sweeps, and a Republican prosecutor who pursued punitive policies toward homeless people and drug users.

So Harvard is keeping this guy, but Claudine Gay had to step down over ginned up plagiarism accusations and bad-faith accusations of anti-Semitism.

Got it.
Larry Summers tells @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social
he’s stepping back from all public commitments in light of his messages with Epstein, saying he is “deeply ashamed” and hopes “to rebuild trust and repair relationships.”

He will continue teaching.

I'm not a Nobel winning economist, but it seems to me the world's largest retailer and the worlds largest delivery services laying off hundreds of thousands right before the busiest retail and delivery season of the year is perhaps not an optimistic indicator of Trump's promised "Golden Age"

The Trump ceasefire deal is the Biden ceasefire deal Trump begged Bibi not to accept in 2024 because it would've hurt Trump's chances of winning the election and I wish this was the first time a GOP candidate for president won by meddling in American foreign policy.

See: Nixon '68 and Reagan '80.

The degree to which those comments can undermine public health, do harm to women who are pregnant, create anxiety for parents who do have children who are autistic – is violence against the truth.

This is the official communication from the FDA to physicians on acetaminophen use in pregnancy.
- They acknowledge the lack of a causal link with autism
- Essentially tell physicians to keep doing what we've been doing anyway
It's very different from the press conference.
Pass it on.

When it comes to vaccine hesitancy, often very much about community. My team believes this. I believe this.

And we ALL do it. Reaction to a bad ref call against a fav team? How we view songs outside our music tribe?

Same social forces, but add the power of rage, fear, and echo chambers.

I’ll wake up tomorrow morning & send this to every editor I can think of. @andreapitzer.bsky.social nails the failings of the US media in this piece: a world-historical abdication of journalistic & civic responsibilities in service of self promotion above all else. The most vile form of betrayal.
I wrote about journalists who look away. From Maxim Gorky's shameful behavior in 1929 at Solovki and the death of George Polk in Greece in 1948, I move on to our current national crisis, which grows a little more urgent every day, despite those who continue to act as if nothing is happening.

27,000 of his constituents lose access to their food assistance.
578 energy jobs in his district will disappear.

Assuming control over someone's body without their consent to further your own interests encompasses the most horrific actions that can be done to a human being. The hospital's decision is depraved. Shame on Bruenig for trying to reframe the violence of Georgia law into sentimental literary tragedy.
