Putting together my Halloween games. Shadowdark Friday and Daggerheart on Saturday. It's going to be a highly lethal weekend-- shooting for TPKs and I'm so excited! Even as a proGM I've never had a TPK. Going straight for the kill this weekend. Wish me luck

Impostor syndrome is hugely common in the ttRPG industry.
One major contributing factor is a sense that if you were a REAL professional you could afford a house, health insurance, a retirement account, and occasional vacations, but that's not true for 99.9% of ttRPG professionals.

An FLGS doesn't just get my money and support because they're a small brick and mortar shop. If the place smells like a gym bag, are generally just rude, only carries D&D, or refuses to let RPGs play because TCGs/Warhammer bring in more cash, why would I just throw money at them?

Tonight I came home from another DM's game sad and disappointed. This is not the first time; in fact, I've rarely enjoyed this game.
I haven't quit because it's a chance to see my 19yr old daughter every week, and I genuinely like the people.

Oof. Tonight's session was rough. 3 new players, and their first impression was a massive internet outage at my house. So now I'm refunding them for lost time. Plus someone died after rolling 1 on a death save. Now I just want to crawl into bed and try to forget it never happened.

Today my sweet middle child turned 20. She lives close enough to see her often, and we still have a close relationship.

When a developer you claim to really like and respects makes a post about their game being on sale?
It's not the time they want to hear your personal hang-ups on why you hate their game... it's not. You can just not post.

Today has been a very full day. Urgent care with my daughter to get her injured foot treated, interviews with several new players, a game with 3 players brand new to D&D and then back to the ER with the same kid! Now it's 3am and I can't sleep. Too much going on in my head. But all is well here.

you can easily throw together a one shot so long as you have some key things in mind (in case someone asks to play dnd tomorrow).
* 3-5 scenes: introduce the hook and inciting incident, some social + RP to investigate the solution, and exploration + resolution to finish things out.

I've finally decided I don't like lo-fi. Music (mostly jazz) and my noise-canceling headphones have been very helpful for focusing on work, but the lo-fi tonal beats that switch left-right hurt my head a little more each day, and I'm giving up.

I have been using #notion for my #ttrpg notes for a while, and I nearly have a system that's perfect for me as a ProGM. So I'm not about to go anywhere. But why does it seem like there's a new version of Notion to install every other day? Is this normal Notion behavior?
