🚨 Sign the *student-created* petition to *protect the professors*, who’ve dedicated their professional lives to the novel task of teaching college-level courses to high school-age children.

(As of now, all Simon’s Rock professors will lose their very livelihoods at year end.)

Simon's Rock College in Great Barrington is closing. I went there - truly the end of an era.

Found out the undergrad I went to, Simon's Rock College of Bard, is closing at the end of this school year. That campus was a life saving refuge for me as a queer teen in the mid 2000s, and it hurts to know it will no longer foster safe growth for future generations of queer youth.

Ah, the return of my old nemesis that caused me to leave twitter in the early 2010s - an inability to edit spelling errors, leading to the need to delete what I wrote and post it again outright to correct any mistakes.

It feels weird posting about this in a new account - but I should mention that my 84-year-old father is currently recovering from a heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery. This has been a wild year full of all kinds of trauma, but at the very least my dad seems to be recovering well.

Sometimes - while hiking during the time of year when the sun sets in the mid-afternoon - I sit and watch a sunset at length. In the end I wind up with a ton of photos of a gorgeous sunset, and have an absurd attachment to all of them, so it is hard to determine which pictures are worth sharing.

If anyone ever decides to follow this account, expect hiking photos, generally nerd nonsense and all of it presented to you with a healthy dose of unapologetic queerness.

I never really was a fan of short form social media sites, but I am going to give this one a try. The project of getting people to leave the bird site is an admirable one, and I am interested to see if a migration away is truly possible.
