In the statement, Bard College President Leon Botstein said the school's success as a pioneering early college led to duplication, and a more crowded marketplace in which a residential early college faced greater competition. He cited as examples the 10 public, early college high school campuses founded by Bard in six states, and more than 1 million high school students nationwide taking early college courses this year. “Because of that success, and the larger national movement which it inspired, demand for the original residential model is less strong than it was when Elizabeth Blodgett Hall founded Simon’s Rock in the 1960s," Botstein said. The move to Bard’s new Massena campus will give the school "flexibility in space that can allow for a more financially viable and educationally rich future for Simon’s Rock by placing it physically closer to Bard's main campus, he said. “By moving the institution," Botstein added, "we are giving Simon’s Rock the opportunity to continue its mission."

Not moving to Bard's main campus, oh no - they purchased a $14 million before any renovations new campus (the same size as the current campus, and previously home to a cult) a town away from the main Bard campus to house the Rock at. Which makes the contract terminations extra super sus tbh.
That new home is the 260-acre former Unification Theological Seminary property, in the adjacent hamlet of Barrytown, which Bard announced last year that it was buying for $14 million, according to the Hudson Valley Pilot. The original home on the property was built in 1796 by John Livingston, the Pilot reported, and called "Massena." In 1975, Sun Myung Moon’s Unification Church made the property its U.S. headquarters, according to the Pilot. “We had looked at it three times before as a way to solve our housing problem,” Botstein told the Pilot. “But now we are in the midst of a capital campaign to create new facilities for teaching and learning and everything from faculty offices to studio space and it will be terrific for that.”

There are trees with autumn colors, with some clouds behind them lit up with a sunset. The sky is in cream and light blue colors while the clouds are bright orange. The sun is setting in the distance. The brightness of the sun has slightly distorted the camera, causing there to be a bright red streak right under the sun. It kinda looks like it is holding the sun up, or giving it a hug. The intensity of the sun can be felt through the photo somehow. The grass on the mountain where the photo was taken looks red too. Sunset again. What can I say, I love sunsets. The sunset is entirely in the background, in the foreground is are some plants, they are in front of the sun. I am not good at plant identification, so "those sure are plants" is sadly the best description I can really give them.

I took this photo on the day the doctors told us to say goodbye to my dad. His heart had stopped for the third time, and they could not figure out a reason why. His chances were extremely low. I wanted to forever remember the feel of his hand in mine, and the fact that I have his exact hands.
A person in their mid 30s holding the hand of someone in their mid 80s. Their hands are identical in terms of shape and size, but otherwise bare obvious differences due to age. The hand of the person in their 80s bares several markers revealing that they are in a hospital, including an IV line in their wrist.

Sometimes - while hiking during the time of year when the sun sets in the mid-afternoon - I sit and watch a sunset at length. In the end I wind up with a ton of photos of a gorgeous sunset, and have an absurd attachment to all of them, so it is hard to determine which pictures are worth sharing.
This is a photo of a sunset, taken from a lookout on some rocks on top of a hill that thinks it is a mountain in Connecticut. There are trees with autumn leaves still on them framing each side of the photo. The sun looks like a squished egg yolk, and that orange color has permeated the surrounding sky. There are also blue clouds, almost the same shade of blue as the mountains in the distance the sun is dipping behind. Above you can see the sky - still blue and bright above the orange shades closer to the sun. You can see the rock the photo was taken from in the foreground. It is covered in freshly fallen leaves. Between it and the mountains in the distance are first some trees (who still have leaves) and then the green expanse of a valley. This is basically the exact same photo as the first one, just with a landscape orientation showing off more of the surrounding trees. Also, it was taken a bit earlier, so the colors of the sunset are more washed out - kinda like a watercolor painting. The trees are dark in contrast to the hues of the sunset. It's that same exact sunset again! This one is at least from a slightly different angle, so you see more of the trees leading down to the valley. Also, since this was taken after the other two, the colors are even more muted here, making the clouds - still blue! - look that much more dramatic.
