As my semester is beginning to wind down, I'm looking for some things to read over Winter Break. If anyone has any favorite books, articles, or authors on queer and queer politics (bonus points for queer spaces), please share them with me!

This is a backhanded move to push transgender and gender non-conforming teachers out of the classroom. At a time when Florida's schools are already facing shortages of thousands of teachers across the state.
ErinReed 2 Jul 25 -- Two Trump judges on 3-judge 11th Circuit Court of Appeals panel find that forcing a trans teacher to misgender herself under FL's "Don't Say Gay law" does not violate her 1st Amendment rights. A fed judge had found it an obvious violation of her free speech rights.
11th Circuit Rules Trans Teacher Must Misgender Herself In Classroom In Accordance With FL Law
The ruling by Trump-appointed judges contradicts other classroom speech cases and is a clear case of the state barring disfavored speech, according to the dissent.

Someone has gone through and actually run the numbers on molestation crimes against children.

The politicians who commit these crimes are overwhelmingly Republican.

67% of politicians convicted between February 10, 2023 and May 23, 2024 nationwide were Republicans.

The whole "this protest isn't helping your cause" shit doesn't really matter because it's happening anyway! Americans think we're free from the tides of history but welcome to the shit! Declining living conditions paired with growing authoritarian sentiment means things are happening!

Fed. judge strikes EEOC's guidance that interprets Title VII to bar workplace harassment on account of gender identity and sexual orientation. Says that sort of harassement is not on account of biological sex and so not barred.

Judge Kacsmaryk, of course.

regardless of today’s outcome, it is morally indefensible to have a court ruling on something that affects a population, using evidence and findings that did not consult a single member of that population.

Hello! Has your graduate program removed its comp exams requirement? If so, would you please share what they were replaced by (if at all) and what university/program it is?

My program has tasked me with investigating alternatives

Thank you for your help!

We need to be less polite - when people ask you how you are, be honest. Don't say "fine," speak to the rage, fear, anxiety you feel. We need to solidify our community which means speaking truthfully and deliberately.

I think it’s important to remind people that Democrats haven’t lost people on transgender rights - these issues are divided without a clear majority on most topics. I remain skeptical of the effectiveness of going anti-trans.
