I've created a shareable document with a list of the HHS offices gutted today that I'll be updating as often as possible. Have something to add? Message marisakabas.04 on Signal or email MKwrites4000@proton.me

NEW: The actions of Trump and Vance in recent weeks highlight something under-appreciated.

The American right is now ideologically closer to countries like Russia, Turkey and in some senses China, than to the rest of the west (even the conservative west).

18F, the federal government’s technology shop, was demolished by Musk’s team shortly after midnight. It was a cost-recoverable org, charging agencies for their expertise, using a consulting model. Its cost to government was negligible, its benefits huge. My team there once saved DoD $500 billion.

Appeasement did not work with Hitler, it has not worked with the Republican party and it won't work with Donald Trump either.

All of the olive branches, reaching across the aisle, and both side-isms brought us to this point.

They've been told for forty years that the most successful structure of governance in the history of the world is wasteful and useless. Somehow our success as a nation is DESPITE our government.

It's literally the biggest lie ever told.
The average Fox News viewer has no idea that Musk is tearing down a system that allowed this country to rule the world for the past 75 years. And when their standard of living slips dramatically in the next five years they still won’t understand because their TV will blame it on some poor scapegoat.

Julie Gray, wife of Holocaust survivor Gidon Lev, who joined Musk in his visit to Auschwitz speaks out. She says that Musk felt nothing during the tour & only "cared about how he looked."

She shared this with me privately shortly after the tour, and I'm grateful she made her thoughts public.

Outstanding metaphor from @chrishayes18.bsky.social: you can only get where you want to go by harnessing the energies available.

Also demonstrates the damage of purity tests and doctrinaire absolutism which work to tear down the sails, only allowing their use in perfect uncorrupted winds.
Important insight from @chrislhayes.bsky.social. I often hear people complain about the endless sea of never-Trumpers on MSNBC, rather than real liberals. They assume this is being foisted on the audience by nefarious forces. The opposite is true, I suspect.

Obeisance...
Total BS. Sam Kuffel, a meterologist at the Milwaukee CBS affiliate was fired for criticizing Elon Musk and his sieg heil salute on her Instagram page.

We're deep in State Media territory here, folks.

Meteorologist Sam Kuffel criticized Elon Musk on social media for his straight-arm gesture some likened to a Nazi salute at the Trump inauguration.

(I'm going to start cataloging posts I see that are relevant to obeisance actions, just to maintain a partial personal record.)

It doesn't need to be said that Acosta would literally be the last CNN reporter to Gulag if honest competent reporting was the standard.
CNN wants to move Jim Acosta to the graveyard shift — overnight. Sure sounds like an attempt to curry favor with Trump by lowering the profile of a top journalist.
Media cowardice sure is rampant these days.
Scoop: As Donald Trump gets ready to take power, CNN boss Mark Thompson has informed Jim Acosta that he would like to move his show to the graveyard hours.

I'm willing to repeat this message because I have actually walked through those cemeteries, and seen those graves, without even having realized why there were so many.
