Y’all are cutting HBCU funding, dismantling civil rights offices, slashing Medicaid and SNAP, over-policing Black communities—yet want us to believe you’re helping poor Black people?

I received this from a wide range of sources.

HHS-wide memo entitled "DEI whistle-blower questionnaire" looking for those who have been harmed by DEI policies.

I guess they are trying to build their case about why DEI policies are harmful since they have repeated claimed that they are...

NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya used sickle cell disease research as an example of something he would not call DEI and cut. It's being cut.

8/ And, as someone who oversees #StructuralRacism research, I can tell you that every👏 single 👏 study 👏 in my portfolio that addressed structural racism was both rigorous and set up with testable hypotheses. And every single one was terminated.

6/ Jay made similar claims at the #NIH town hall: that research on redlining could be rigorous but research on #structuralracism is not, as if structural racism research doesn’t operationalized the concept via measurable components like redlining.

4/ He calls for a program to ensure grants go to researchers across the country (not just on the coasts), acknowledging the importance of having different perspectives in science. But he fails to realize the program he describes IS #DEI, & a similar program exists www.nigms.nih.gov/Research/DRC...

3/ Jay either does not understand or willfully mischaracterizes #DEI programs at #NIH. He describes them as only focusing on race, which is simply not true. See the (sadly now rescinded) Notice of NIH's Interest in Diversity: grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...

2/ I was disturbed to hear Jay take credit for (or propose as new) things that existed at #NIH well before he got there. Example: he claimed that he set up an appeals process for terminated grants. That process has existed for a looong time - we’ve just never needed to use it as such a huge scale.

I finally made it through this @hubermanlab.com podcast with Jay Bhattacharya. It took a while because it’s 4(!!) hours long and I had to take multiple breaks for deep breathing. (Not gonna lie, I played it at 1.25 speed.) podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/h...

if ken cuccinelli is appointed president of UVA all hell will break loose here
The most horrific person you can think of (my guess: Ken Cuccinelli) is going to be named as the next president of the University of Virginia, and they will not be prepared for what Charlottesville is like after August 2017. They will not be able to eat in a restaurant or appear in public.
Cville: 3pm today, at the Rotunda. you don’t have to love Jim Ryan, I sure don’t, but Trump’s DOJ forcing his replacement by Youngkin would be an absolute disaster for anyone affiliated with UVA, and honestly for our region at large.

“Does she feel any kicking?”
“We don’t have the equipment to do that.”

Choosing this headline and framing and photo gives the impression that the University of Virginia President is behaving scandalously, not the Trump administration. Hard to conclude that's not what the New York Times believes when they (someone! - who?) make those three decisions!
