I’m not able to get out and be a part of the activist action anymore. That means that I’ve pivoted away from issues like marriage equality/social justice/maternal mortality/etc and towards the Poly Crisis. Educating myself so that I can share knowledge and enact change at home first.

“… efforts should be directed towards… preventing ongoing land use change and restoring a portion of the historically lost soil organic carbon through soil best management practices while also preventing global warming that will result in release from permafrost.”

How to convince policymakers?
"Reliance on soil to produce the rapidly increasing quantities of food..demanded by humans has caused soil to release profound amounts of greenhouse gases.. Net anthropogenic emissions from soil..account for 15 % of the entire global increase in climate warming."

Soil is a major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions and climate change
Abstract. It is unequivocal that human activities have increased emissions of greenhouse gases, that this is causing warming, and that these changes will be irreversible for centuries to millennia. Wh...

I am trying to take public transportation more instead of driving. I am trying to eliminate my spending at Walmart and Amazon entirely. I am trying to use less plastic. I am trying to eat less meat and never get fast food. These tiny acts of resistance add up. I recommend you all try to do the same.

After years of trying, I think I finally talked my husband into backyard chickens.

Turns out all he needed was to watch a 15-minute video about AMOC collapse.

The climate crisis has to be addressed at the national and international level, but consumer choice plays a role. One thing we can do is switch from almonds (R in photo) to pecans (L). Both are similar in nutrition, but it is water use and geography that makes a difference. 1/4

I’ve mentioned this before, but if you’re short on cash but have an urge to shop, go to your library digital apps and browse the books, audiobooks, movies, shoes, magazines. It works really well to give you the same feeling without spending the cash. (Plus you’re supporting public libraries.) 💙📚
