With Citizens United, has anyone considered the future repercussions as regards artificially intelligent entities? Will non-human entities, such as a more developed Grok, have the same rights afforded to a person? Will they be given free speech protections? Given voting rights? Privacy rights?

Just finished this for my book club tomorrow! I enjoyed Sapiens and am slightly terrified after finishing Nexus. With the AI development race, it feels a bit like the Nuclear Arms race with constant uncertainty hanging over our daily lives. Not sure how far into the AI waters I wish to tread.

Trump has done a lot of authoritarian things this year and IMO none of them is as authoritarian as restricting opposition legislators’ right to travel freely.
WILD situation in Texas right now: The House Speaker has required Dems, who just returned from their out-of-state quorum break, to have police escorts once they leave the chamber. One Dem is refusing to leave the House floor with escort, and GOP leaders have blocked press access to the chamber.

Greed, unchecked and unrepentant in our current society, is the downfall of our democracy. Wealth hoarding should be treated like a disease. And the constant celebrity worship needs to stop. If they truly cared to change the systemic inequalities, they would be living more humbly.

What was that about NWS to blame for inaccurate forecasts in Texas? You get what you voted for here. They said it would cost lives just days before the flood and it did. My condolences to the families but were I them, I’d make sure to fight against Abbott, Patrick, and the whole corrupt lot.

Deportations are costly, often inhumane now, and will be very disruptive to the labor market. Time and time again, this administration proves to be thoughtless and short-sighted. It’s time to impeach and resist. 47 and his billionaire buddies are no good for this country.
