@samuelwroberts.bsky.social Just catching up on your Bully episode, really good, very fond memories of that game. But random memory based on your “why are year 7s & year 11s in the same school” point. I grew up in Harrow & year 7 was in primary school. We started high school in year 8. No idea why

This Peanuts / Alien strip is pretty cool, and also a good demonstration of the slightly surprising story breaks in a great monster movie. Usually your beast only reveals itself properly halfway through. Look:

Let's go for some Republic Appreciation time ! I love the first 7 songs of this LP almost equally so choosing just 3 was painful... This one wins thanks to its crazy opening synth line 🎹

The weekend is here, and what better time to catch up with developments in our strange corridor of the Essex countryside?

Mainlining old Bullseyes on Challenge at my dad’s. Not seen the first series before, amazing how much of the running time is taken up explaining the concept. “A clock for every room”? Oh go on then Jim

If this was a band I'd seen photos of in NME/Smash Hits when I was 14, I would have gone out and bought/stole their records the very next day without having to hear a single note.

A Complete Unknown was great. Chalamet, Norton and Barbaro very good indeed, strong support. Bit low on characterisation - you won’t learn anything new anybody - but as an evocative barnstormer that has you singing as you leave it was bang on. Woman next to me was beside herself with admiration

League Two is a monster league to follow, Bromley doing well amidst the “anyone can beat anyone” chaos. In last match week, top 2 lost, only 2 of the top 12 won, but 6 of the bottom 12 did. Meanwhile, 4 points separates 2nd and 8th. Playoffs promising to be tasty

My New Year’s resolution written for me
I really need to get better at finding pleasure in being alive and simply existing, rather than constantly thinking "If I can just get through this ordeal..." and "If I can just get past that deadline..." Then what? The next ordeal or deadline, and repeat, until death?

Staggeringly good article by @joeyschutz.bsky.social about gameplay loops and meaning and why they're not interchangable.
went and wrote about gameplay loops :)

Distinct late-90s vibes about this current Spurs side. Does that make Kulusevski Ginola? And that the league cup is on? Clutching, I know

Post your first RPG? Hard to believe now but this was epic. Though all hail the NES’s ever-comical disconnect between game covers and gameplay

I was on a train once when there was a red sky and a bloke said to his mate "You know what they say. Shepherd's night, shepherd's delight. Shepherd's morning, shepherd's warning"

You know. What they say.

The Indiana Jones game being good is the best news, a classic Christmas playthrough beckons. It’s now sat there pre-downloaded winking at me. PS I loved this review, so well written in giving you all you’d want and spoiling nothing www.eurogamer.net/indiana-jone...
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle review - the best Indy's been since The Last Crusade
Smart, fun and so very Indiana Jones, The Great Circle is a stealth action tour de force that marks a bold new era for MachineGames.

Fully recommend changing your phone home screen to Tinted in a colour of your choosing and getting rid of all the apps’ default colours. Looks pleasing and less like a casino, and definitely reduces distraction and increases purposeful use
