In 2024 I bicycled 4200 kilometers. And the total on my current bike at the end of 2024 was 14489 kms. I'll just pin this here so it's easy for me to follow on this year's numbers.

Who are the bsky shark people who don't mind answering stupid questions from stupid people (me!)? Because I want to know how Greenland sharks (very slow swimmers?) catch prey like seals and cetaceans (fast swimmers?) that have been found in their tummies?

I'm not sure I like ABQ doing Janáček. But I can't really articulate why. Their playing is immaculate as always. It just doesn't really sound like, ya know, Czech (I'll get my coat).

CD 13 is piano music from Cécile Chaminade. As a flutist I love Chaminade. Her flute concertino might just be the only repertoire composition by a woman. Literally every flutist has to learn it. And we should because it's magnificent. So pretty. As is her piano music. Mark Viner plays it...
CD 12 is more Schumann and Rebecca Clarke. Piano Trios. Schumann's is famous and I was captivated by it from the start. Bobby's Trio might be more famous but it's obviously inspired by this. Clarke is DRAMATIC! OMG I love it. Clarke rocks.

Positives for this day: I bicycled for two hours. I ate tofu skins in málà sauce and it was deeeelish!

Negs: I paid rent and all my bills and oopsed a vintage CWC field watch and now I'm broke again. Also: heartbreak extra bad I wanna die. Also: splashed some málà into my eye and it hurts.

Mikä on sun absurdein känkelöinti netissä?
Outoa. Yleensä tykkään naturaleista.

I never did understand why we used to talk about covid variants when covid's metamorphoses was right there.
DAD: Babe, I think the kid has Ovid

MOM: What? Covid?

CHILD:
Rose darke and full of foggye mist. And now they were within
A kenning of the upper earth, when Orphye did begin

DAD:
To dowt him lest shee followed not, and through an eager love
Desyrous for to see her, he his eyes did backward move.

Wrist watches are a silly hobby. I nearly missed my bus to the grocery store since I was looking at watch pics. To rephrase since the irony is not lost on me: I lost track of time looking at devices used to track time. Why am I like this? May I have a new better brain please? :D

Why am I suddenly obsessed with Janáček's string quartets and why, oh why did he only write two of them when I want there to be a huge cycle of them? So unfair! Who is your fave quartet to have recorded them? I love Panocha and Janáček Quartets' recordings and quite like Emerson's too. Who else?

An ephebophile is a paedophile who happens to know how to use a thesaurus.
I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

Hehe, I'm posting saucy noods on main. I did things with my bestie and by things I mean he forced to go eat good food and we talked silly stupid things to keep my mind away from that whole crush disaster.

Hyvää Homobonuksen päivää kaikille yrittäjille, räätäleille, suutareille ja cremonalaisille. Mutta missä on homojen bonukset? Taaskaan ei oo maksettu mun tilille ajoissa. Joka vuosi sama juttu.

Of non-fiction: Said's Orientalism. It's like everything became clear all of a sudden. Difficult read for teenage me but so worth it.

Of fiction: Tade Thompson's Rosewater. I'd been in a rut and because of depression couldn't enjoy anything at all. But one sentence in it ("I fucking hate Ayn Rand")
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

As my hopes and dreams unRavel, there's just one thing to do. Listen to opera, the art of oversized feelings. Unlike some, this opera doesn't go on Fauréver so even the impatient can Händel it. I hope I don't sound Cavallier if I say this is a charming light opera that won't Lully you to sleep.

Yesterday I spent a couple hours drinking coffee and chatting with my crush and learned that he's already in a relationship and now I just wanna die. Why does heartbreak hurt so much? I should stop even dreaming of good things happening to me. I'm not a likable enough person for anything like this.

Why are we watch geeks like this? Waiting for a specific second on a specific day that I can take a pic with elevens all the way. Do I need a life? Do I need friends? At least I have a very cool vintage Casio that not only tells the time but also how poor I am. :D
