folk punk is punk only to the extent it explores the tension b/t being idiotic at an unsustainable level & being hellbent on existing. if a guy's just kinda sad and likes acoustic guitars he's an indie rock guy with a personal brand. if he might fuck up shoplifting socks so bad he dies that's punk
