I think most (white)Americans have lived in a cocoon feeling protected from the horrors many people, in our own country and across our world have experienced. They never doubted that American power and influence would protect them. They never believed the enemy would be their own president.

It’s truly hard to reconcile a lifetime of believing that the purpose of government in the United States is to help citizens with the hatred ICE and other federal agencies have displayed for Americans in Chicago, LA, DC and other US cities
