Discover what happens when it's the secretary who has the affair; read the brilliantly irreverent Agnes Owens.
There are countless novels dedicated to the dissatisfaction of the office worker and their ever-present need to find a lustful escape during working hours—think of 'The Devil'

Next in our timeline: No. 39 – Mavis Belfrage (1996). Originally titled Agnes Belfrage, Gray changed it after input from writer Agnes Owens. His least fantastical work, it explores love and working-class life from the '50s–'90s. #alasdairgray #thealasdairgrayarchive

Began reading this last night. Three authors alloted one third of the book each. Alasdair Gray is one of my favourite writers. I know almost nothing about Agnes Owens and James Kelman, but the Kelman selection so far has been excellent, reminding me somewhat of Beckett ☺️ #booksky
