I consider the osr generally to be a unified system.

Anything based on pre D&D 3.0 is pretty much compatible. And there are some great subcommunities out there such as Basic Fantasy Roleplaying Game.
And no, before the most miserable subset of folks show up, this is not an endorsement of WotC or its practices or even D&D as a whole, but when there was a societally unifying system, we made more together.

As usual, what this actually is is a full throated GURPS endorsement.

Looking for people who work with their hands in #Virginia. From #RVA to #757 to #Nova to #Cville and Beyond.

I've been turning down work across the state. Home assembly and warranty repair.

If you're trying to survive in a #gigworkers economy let's talk.

These asshats have been declaring war for decades. They invented "The Culture War". Using the word "War" has consequences. And now they are Chicken Little-ing?
It doesn’t matter how many times you say “political violence is abhorrent” these people want anyone left of fascism dead.
Fox Host Jesse Watters: They are at war with us. Whether we want to accept it or not, they are at war with us. And what are we going to do about it?

I'm doing a little bit of screaming into the void here but I'm looking for people who are interested in #fantasy that feels more like #fairytale and #folktale than it does the Mod Eisley cantina. I know you're out there. Let's talk about The Fields we Know this side of the Twilight Border.

Happy Labor Day folks. Today's a great day for all of us indie creators to applaud one another's labor. The physical as well as the intellectual which can often be the far greater percentage.

The labor that comes unbidden at 3:00 a.m. The labor that doesn't understand calendars and clocks

Scott Story is an amazing artist, researcher, and author.

He I share a great deal of aesthetic sensibility when it comes to how we like our fantasy. Grounded in history, folklore, tradition far more than influenced by modern fantasy.
New drawing--Tarrasque. Not the weird D&D version, but based on folklore.

Good Sunday morning Blueskeets! Lately people have been asking me about my experience as a old school role player who started in 1979. Here's part of my story which I wrote in 2012. It's been quite the journey since

Repost and share your journey!

Role Playing Games
"R" is for Role Playing in the A to Z Challenge Role playing gamges (RPGs) are a virtually lifelong hobby of mine. OK, I didn't come out...

Agree or disagree? Let's hash it out.

I say what old school games have in common are mathematical probabilities, not what direction you approach the math from.

I've been on a journey to come up with marketing language for my #ttrpg campaign setting The Fields We Know.

I believe there is a place for it and it's adventures in the marketplace.

Low fantasy, humancentric, noblebright, classic. Yet I don't think cozy is appropriate. #Fairytales are not cozy.

#Fantasy worlds need to be grounded in the mundane in order for the magical to be wondrous. When you start out at 11, where do you go from there?

Has anyone out there read Dunsany?

I find that most fantasy campaign worlds most closely resemble the lands that clearly pertain to Faery. There are adventures and settings of aplenty. My creative interests lie primarily on this side of that twilight boundary. In The Fields We Know.

It's easy to dismiss the physical world in a fantasy environment that allows levitation and flying, teleportation, and all sorts of means of bypassing physical barriers

But I find player versus environment to be one of the most enjoyable things to DM

Tired of #TTRPG parties that look like they came out of the cantina in Mos Eisley?

Let's talk about down to earth #fantasy worlds that feel more like #Arthurian romance or the youngest and kindest of three brothers going off on adventure to prove their worth.

I keep finding small details to add to communicate just a little more information. There's one more I'm debating on but I think I'll leave it. I'm pretty satisfied with this.

While the second story wood plank flooring is the newest part of the structure, it is nonetheless over a century old with continuous exposure to the elements.

walking without care: 1/6 chance of falling through (thieves have advantage)
Running or fighting (roll with disadvantage except thieves)
I've been working on developing a style to represent castles three-dimensionally

I always thought the isometric design of the original Castle Ravenloft was a good start. But I wanted something that was structurally sound as well

This castle will be included in the current adventure I'm writing.

The windlass mechanism is long disabled. Each porticullis on either side of the entryway has been chained and suspended to the mechanism in the open position. An improvised bridge of felled logs replaces the long decayed drawbridge, allowing easy access into the overgrown courtyard.

Harrow Keep is rumored to be haunted. Indeed there are three Imps who were summoned by a long deceased magic user who once lived here. Nightly they play a game of cards in the windlass room on the first floor

In addition to their mischief they will reveal secrets to any who can beat them at cards
