TLDR: The consequence of increased polarization is less democracy.

There's also a cool "what do we do about it?" section at the bottom including a tool that lets you take the emotional temperature of what you read (are you being rage baited?) mores-horizon.eu/blog/when-de... #scicomm 🧪 #polisci

A new study, based on a survey of 1,150 workers suggests that the injection of AI tools into the workplace has not resulted in a magic productivity boom and instead increased the amount of time that workers say they spend fixing low-quality AI-generated “work.”

AI ‘Workslop’ Is Killing Productivity and Making Workers Miserable
AI slop is taking over workplaces. Workers said that they thought of their colleagues who filed low-quality AI work as "less creative, capable, and reliable than they did before receiving the output."

From 2016, just a refresher, the European parties the Kremlin was bankrolling, had captured, or had compromised individuals (marked by *) within them. This has only grown because nobody took the threat seriously then, despite all the warnings, which led to the invasion of Ukraine, Brexit, Trump.

By engaging with Maxwell, Blanche impermissibly conflates prior representation with present prosecutorial authority.

Such conduct threatens the Department of Justice’s duty of neutrality, risks tainting evidentiary processes, & likely constitute de facto obstruction of investigatory function.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche’s initiative to meet with Ghislaine Maxwell presents a clear conflict of interest. Having previously served as Donald Trump’s personal defense counsel, Blanche’s involvement compromises prosecutorial impartiality in any matter potentially implicating Trump.

The @royalsociety, which honours Musk with its Fellowship, must be *so* proud.
Musk has adjusted Grok’s algorithm so it’s now a neo-Nazi.

Pretty cool that almost every progressive commentator, elected official and organization still uses Musk’s X algorithm to communicate with the public! Good job guys.

Theda Skocpol puts the creation of Trump's secret police force, which is the centerpiece of the OBBB, in historical perspective. It has close precedents in Europe between the wars.

Trump's genius plan: scare off international students from Harvard, handing talent to Hong Kong on a silver platter. The US, once a beacon of academic excellence, now stumbles in the global arena, tripping over its own shoelaces. #3E

Just done a couple of promotion assessments for another institution (more unpaid work of course!).

Unbelievable what the expectations are - to be brilliant at everything - for a mediocre salary less than many of our graduates and with a 24/7 workload.

Europe's anxiety over a potential U.S. NATO withdrawal isn't paranoia. With whispers of troop cuts and a pivot towards China, the alliance's backbone seems shaky. As Russia looms, the stakes for European security—and by extension, global stability—are perilously high. #3E

Proud of Harvard for pushing back, exercising some creativity, and, maybe, helping folks get some needed education.

Harvard is making many of their online government courses FREE.

I just signed up for "Citizen Politics in America".

They even asked me my Gender.
