She said it was for a car insurance refund. And...I'm told that's not how car insurance works, much less for 11 years.

Ugh, I'm sorry. It sucks. I think I filed first, and the IRS gives it to the one who did. Then when my mom tried to claim me as a dependent... it blew up on her. So then she had to prove that I was filing as one or somesuch. (Or that my "address" was hers.)

I think she was also trying to claim me on her taxes when I was 30 and living in Washington state. I'd get jury duty notices for illinois, and suddenly my mom needed 11 years worth of my tax returns. Didn't give them to her.
