Checking out Numero's live Hüsker set and the press material was accurate: the Minneapolis set sounds good, especially for the era.
But the extra 20 tracks selected from other dates are of wildly varying quality. I swear some of them make Land Speed Record seem well-recorded.

For that matter: is the Palpatine of the earlier films also a clone?
Was there originally a Shev Palpatine?

I will die on the hill that, as a clone, the Palpatine of TROS should be referred to as "Sheeev"

There's a photo from Life Magazine that sometimes does the rounds with "look at how much this family was able to buy for $12 in 1947!"
And it misses the fact that $12/week was considered extremely frugal while still amounting to more than 20% of the nation's median income.

You spend approximately a quarter of what your ancestors spend on food in 1947 and the food quality is far superior and more varied. cepr.net/publications...

Toronto's tall building guidelines, adopted in 2013, are directly responsible for all those horrible shoeboxes we all hate www.toronto.ca/city-governm...
We finished a search for a new place over the summer, and one thing we noticed was that — even when you set a minimum square footage — you could immediately tell the units that were a decade old or younger just from the layouts.
‘A literal shoe box’: Why some Toronto renters are avoiding new builds | CBC News
Some Torontonians are opting out of moving into new builds — for reasons ranging from a lack of rent control to poor layouts — at a time tenants are increasingly gaining leverage in the market.

I've brought it up before, but I really want to know what the original version of X-Factor #1 that Layton & Guice submitted was.
We know that Shooter nixed it & demanded changes mere weeks from the date it had to be sent to the printer. But AFAIK no one has ever described what was changed.

It's funny that Layton's like "I just wanted to write a book that was vintage classic X-Men fun, and I quit when they wouldn't let me do that." And, like, the whole first issue is just intense agony for everyone involved.

#RandomGameSaturday Famicom Mini 18: Makaimura
I got this in a lot of games & I keep meaning to sell it. It's not that Ghosts 'n Goblins itself is a bad game, but the Famicom version is a bad port.
Love the red & white shells the Famicom Mini carts got though. Much nicer than the Classic NES greys

OK, an actual hot take instead of my usual semi-joking "hot" takes: Johnson is a filmmaker who works heavily on vibes, and his scripts often don't hold together that well once you start looking closely at them.
I feel like an under appreciated flaw in TLJ is that Johnson knew where he wanted to go but manifestly had no clue how to get there
Yeah, the big problem with Holdo's character is that her actions don't make any sense.
If anything, it's unbelievably weird that Poe is one of the only ones who actually acknowledges that, which implies that Holdo told everyone her plan EXCEPT Poe, or that everyone else in the fleet is an idiot.
