Ofc ppl will and should support each other via mutual aid. But we cannot both be taxed by the state (which uses our taxes to kill) AND capitalize the functions OF the state w our meagre post-tax earnings.

“…and the worst you can do in the face of tyranny is to cave.” —Prof. Deborah McDowell

Literally, one hour before seeing this, I shared the same advice with a former student. God bless you, @dem8z.bsky.social , on the eve of your retirement! Thank you for all you do/ have done. ❤️

Ed Tech is a Trojan horse for tech elite capture of public resources. Every time.
Twenty years in education and I have seen so many things that were going to "save teachers time" and then it got weaponized into "if you don't use this, you're ruining your students' future" and usually when that mindless zealousness comes around it's less than a year for that tech to collapse.

i know it can suck to have to baby ppl new to the whole "fighting for our collective rights" thing, but... it's part of organizing. expecting ppl who've never had to fight for their rights to suddenly know how to become a radical antifa freedom fighter is just not realistic, y'all.

What he's actually calling for is violent ethnic cleansing, not just permanent displacement.

I mean, he can try. Palestinians won't leave.
“Audacious.” What the fuck are these people doing.

13,000 Palestinians are dead. 1.7 million displaced. There is no rationale, no defense, no angle or argument, historical or contemporary, that makes this slaughter acceptable. There is no justification, and there shall be no forgiveness for America’s complicity and material aid in this horror.

They would be prepared for jobs that required qualitative analysis, good communication, understanding hierarchal organizations, community leadership and organizing, etc.

More generally though, colleges are not, and should not be treated like, vocational training.

“Student demand” is a v elastic thing, when used as talking point by admin
When I was at UNCC, we worked for 10 years on a proposal for a Women's & Gender Studies major bc we had *600+ minors*. The proposal got all the way to the Board of Governors for the UNC System, & they tabled it indefinitely as a way to kill it. The students WANTED that major.
University admins claim to be "data-driven" and "run universities like a business," but when study after study finds liberal arts majors get good outcomes, are cheap to run, and are in fact profit centers, admins cut them anyway for ideological reasons.
