In 2025, Ontario detected/reported 0.3% of ~5.8M infections, 4% of ~33.7K hospitalizations, and 2.6% of ~6,200 premature deaths from COVID-19.

In Canada, ~0.3% of infections, ~11.5% of hospitalizations and ~6.4% of premature deaths from COVID-19 were detected/reported in 2025.

Since Dec 5, 2021, Ontario has detected/reported 1.9% of 58.9M infections, 16% of 317K expected hospitalizations and 15% of 59,200 deaths (people who die from COVID-19 at least 1 year prematurely).

WHAT'S NEW THIS WEEK?

Waste water and test positivity rate data from mid-late August were reported this week.

All Canadian provinces are experiencing a large wave of infections.

Some may have peaked already, although we need another couple of weeks of data to determine this.

Well folks, we've had a pretty good last 4 months here in Southeastern Ontario with very low levels of #COVID19. However, that is now changing. For the last 2 weeks we have seen a persistent & steady rise in SARS-CoV-2 test positivity and now, our first declared #COVID19 outbreak since early April.🧵

So dirty. Line 2 is worse than Line 1. At least the subway cars on Line 1 have MERV13 filters in them. TTC has refused to reveal what kind of filters are used on Line 2 (likely not MERV13).

What I would give to see Corsi-Rosenthal boxes in TTC subway stations.
