Publishing has a problem with not wanting dark & disturbing fiction & fiction that doesn’t resolve neatly with a happy ending. This is the feedback I’ve gotten on all three of my novel manuscripts only one of which is published. Especially as a woman & a Black one you can’t publish dark books.

I think the more horrifying implication of all of these companies getting rid of their DEI programs - even more so than the loss of these programs themselves - is, like. Those programs exist to insulate them from civil rights lawsuits. Which means they're not worried about those lawsuits anymore
