With induction stoves and heat pumps taking over, kiwis are quickly moving away from gas in their homes at an unexpected rate and a "death spiral" of gas has commenced. Those left behind are angered at how expensive gas is getting now that the few remaining customers have to share the high costs.

It commissioned in 1965 & operated for 26 years until 1991
It took 6 years, until 1997, to remove the spent ☢️ fuel rods
Demolition was to be between 2020-26. But because the site is still so radioactive it’s not expected to complete until 2083
