It's not beyond the remit of the possible that when (if?) this futtbuckery is called to account both A & H will be X'd, or at least lucky to survive with their ample, shiny heads attached to the rest of themselves.
Some incredible details in this piece
*one DOGE faction was planning the future of the US government at a venture capital firm
*illegally communicating on Signal to avoid transparency laws was deeply embedded into organizational culture to be taken for granted

To be clear, the fellow said 'disinflationary', not 'deflationary'. The latter is bad, the former sorta means 'acts against inflation'.

That said, it's misleading, likely wrong and a stupid thing for a Fed Gov to spout.
Fed Governor Stephen Miran: "Cutting down net migration to 0, potentially even negative because of the deportations that have been occurring, I think is very deflationary."

Perhaps Luke O'Neil is the finest writer you have not yet read?
Do you ever think about a shooting she asked.

By which she meant do you have a little pilot light of anxiety always burning somewhere inside. A little seed of dormant foreboding. Something strapped to your back like a heavy satchel.

Could be wrong, but wasn't the 1st Thanksgiving a thoroughly inter-cultural affair wherein the hosts introduced the near-freezing and - starving newcomers to the traditional foods of the 'New World'? Thus forging both a tradition and a nascent nation?

The morons in the thread below seem to differ.
It’s how you end up with language like “paperwork American” or the idea that Thanksgiving turkey is some sort of natural ethno-national tradition that certain other groups are incapable of ever appreciating

Yeeeah, might be wrong, but to suggest that Palo Alto is an 'urban ideal' is so head-up-ass stupid that one may actually think these people are actually pretty dumb. Good at their weird thing. But dumb and ridiculously insular.

Haven't seen the DHS video. But the screencaps @jeffsharlet.bsky.social offers here suggest a turn to Adam Curtis' 'Hypernormalisation'-style 'montage attack' in service of exactly that which Curtis decries.

RFK (Jr.) dashed pretty quick after that incident in the Oval Office.

He and Josh Hawley should have a race.

Would RFK (Jr.)'s determined speed prevail? Or will it be Hawley's sprightly gait?

Need to find out!

"Trump Shutdown Starves Overseas Troops, Germany stands up.' should be the hed in every pub worth its cred.

It won't be.
NEW: The US Army website for its bases in Bavaria, Germany told its soldiers and employees that it might need to obtain free food from the German government during the US government shutdown.

The Army later altered publication to remove a list of food banks, but we have the original text here:
US Army Tells Soldiers to Go to German Food Bank, Then Deletes It
The initial 'Shutdown Guidance' for the US Army Garrison Bavaria included instructions to go to German food banks.

Aside from the accuracy of this characterization, the head shot of the bloviator here looks *exactly* like one of @tomtomorrow.bsky.social 's 'vile n' vapid RW stooges' who appear in a panel spouting stupid and disingenuous BS 'happytalk'.

Smart satire is now indistinguishable from dumb propaganda.
They were not fooled, tricked, manipulated, hoodwinked, or bamboozled. They posted the videos because it matches their ideology and illustrates their preferred narrative. That’s it.

Us kids in suburban Toronto had an IBM facility, bottom of the street. We used to dumpster-dive for colour-coded punch cards. Then try to figure out what the hell the these things meant or did.

Parents grumbled the place was an 'electr-o-sux'.

It was a big facility. But these things are insane.
