Here's a fixed animation that had some other issues; eating. The hands would just go and make an X. Sometimes with #indiegame dev things have to be done quick, so it wasn't implemented properly.
Still it was something that bothered me and is now finally resolved.

Since our characters do now have HPs and can be injured, we've added animation for injuries as well.
But the one we've got for the idle was walking... so I've reduced the motion and added some tweaks. Bottom is masked and using the idle.

One reason for the disappearing parts: we have four body types: "regular", "buff", "thin" and "round". Additionally, since the last update we've added female characters. So while an animation might be totally fine for some characters, arms will disappear for others.

This week I went through the Ground of Aces animations and fixed the most bothering issues through better aligning them to our rig.
Left is old, right is new.
The goal is to have less disappearing body parts no matter the body type.

Here's some images of the B-17 I've created for our latest Ground of Aces update. A special bird where they removed most of the guns as it was used against submarines.

Was fun to see players getting it on their bases.

Needed to test some texture compression settings, and things got rough - because apparently our pathfinding breaks down at fast forward and lots of characters get stuck. At least it looks fun. 🥲

Now that's a setup that makes sense for game devs. Wish Apple (and let's not forget: Valve!!) would take some hints without having to be dragged into the right direction by courts.

Unity baked lightmap: having a point light with 500m range vs one with < 10m range.
Keep in mind to always use measurements that make sense.
